Dream catcher

. Dream Catcher She awoke from her dream, a male voice saying, "I thought our mothers' always won."             Above is the only snippet of information I can remember from a recent dream I had. It at first sounded like the male voice or someone I knew, from high school or below. Now however, I can't place it. Maybe it's to remind me that my mother has always fought for me, and she will continue to win every war.             I collect dream catchers, I've always wondered whether they really work. Several years ago now, I was searching through some of my personal items and I found a legend about dream catchers on some stationary. It was a legend out of South Dakota. To quickly paraphrase, it said that the person's nightmare is held in the web of the dream catcher. Then, the dream or nightmare parishes in the early morning light. The End of The Bucket List

Noah finally reached #99 today. The reporter and photographer from the local paper had just left, when I arrived. “ The basket hit the ground safely, I see.”             “Yes,” he replied. “As you predicted, it would have been more fun with my Emilee. All the couple I went with wanted to do was swill red or white, and talk of his promotion. Emilee would have squeezed my hand lovingly and talked about the beauty of the countryside.”             “Well, Noah…They all can not be your Emilee. She was one of a kind. What’s next? I was there at the beginning when you had me write the blasted list.”             He was sitting on the edge of the bed when he looked over at me. Tears rolling down his wrinkled cheeks. “Ah, my boy, I wish I had more time on the clock, more things to tick off.              I sat down in my spot.   “Maybe you do old man…Just because you set the list at a certain number, doesn’t mean it’s final. Doctors have been wrong before. What about

I remember...

When things used to be simple. They would visit every Tuesday. I would miss them ,the kids would fill up the house with noise  and excitement. Then we got custody and the world changed.  I learned how to share. I learned how to teach. I  and others learned how to dream big for them. We all watched them grow experiment and change

Complete the Story…

this Christmas, I received a story starter book. I have decided to write down, the completed story starters, in an effort to foster a new ideas. Please read and enjoy, i At first, we thought the black liquid was oil that we’d struck it rich and that we’d be able to retire and live in leisure. We actually started writing down all the ways we’d spend our money. Our first choice was to purchase a home. A ranch style house with a few archers had ben Mama’s dream. We all began to picture our photo secession with Better Homes & Gardens.              One day the farm hands went to the site. It was found not to be oil, but some type of rare mineral. People from dhow chemical came and took a sample. They struck a deal with us. Since, the house wasn’t an option anymore, we bought a red Ford Pick-Truck. Mama even bought a new sewing mechine.

Celebrity Name Game

When mom met me up this morning, she was asking me which celebrity was my favorite, you know favorite female actress or male actor. It reminds me of a one, of one of those  party games that are meant to catch you offguard guard. She asked me a bunch of other questions, I answered accordingly. At the end of the game and after I was done using the toilet and eating breakfast… I wished that I would have been able to come up with better responses.  I think I said Jim Carrey and Julia Roberts. Looking back however, I would have changed my answers. Jim Carrey would have been a contender but Matthew McConaughey would have knocked him off of the top spot. As far as favorite actresses go, and still would have been Katherine Hagel, even though her career has been put on hold because of her desire to have a family. Mom then switched to questions that were of a more personal nature. That game reminding me of something I saw on one of my all-time favorite TV shows, Charmed. I think the sisters we

Day one… Again!

Dear Reader, Because of the holiday festivities, I temporarily stopped posting to this blog. Now, that I have decided to get back on track I realized that I must start over from day one with my original writing exercise. Hopefully I will not have to many more distractions like this one. I really do want to complete the full 21 days in their entirety. Please bear with me and remember, positive encouragement is always welcome Today I saw a bowl filled with Brownie pieces covered with two scoops of Hudsonville then no ice cream and drizzled with Hershey's chocolate. Yesterday I saw part of the movie It's Complicated starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. All I could think of while watching this was, what if the same type of situation happens to my parents. I must say, this concept is slightly disturbing. The more I think about this movie and the more I think about the writing, and what kind of mind must have come up with this concept. It sounded lik
